The same faces, every single day
Most of our team has been at Little Starlings for over a decade. That is not something we take for granted - it happens because people genuinely want to stay. Children settle faster, parents trust more quickly, and the work feels more meaningful when you are not starting from scratch with a new team every year. We are looking for someone who wants to be part of that, not just pass through.
You work with the whole age range
We run a mixed-age group - 16 months to 5 years, all in the same space. That means you are not pigeonholed into one room or one stage of development. You see babies become walkers, walkers become talkers, and preschoolers help the youngest ones find their feet. For practitioners who find conventional age-banded rooms limiting, it is a genuinely different kind of work.
Term-time hours that suit your life
We are term-time only, Monday to Thursday (Friday sessions from September 2026). That means proper school holidays - the same ones your own children get if you have them, and a natural rhythm to the year that full-year nurseries cannot offer. Sessions run 8am to 6pm but you will not be working a split shift across the whole day.
